It is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as a precise organization of forms, which give that event its proper expression. | Henri Cartier-Bresson | |

| | In Soviet days, Abkhazia was a premier beach resort
located in the area known as the Riviera of the Caucasus,
northwest of Georgia. It seceded from Georgia during
the fall of the USSR, resulting in a bloody war in which
more than 10,000 people were killed. Since then,
Abkhazia, with its population of about 100,000, has
enjoyed 13 years of de facto independence, with its own
forms of government; yet no other country acknowledges
its existence. Abkhazia has not quite integrated into the
new world order, yet it has also lost all the certainties of
the Soviet era. Nonetheless, its Black Sea resorts attract
a motley crew of vacationing Russians seeking discount
deals.
