Today we look back at the world 70 years ago: war, peace, fashion, and art. BURMA—Mingladon Air Field, near Rangoon. The Flying Tigers, a group of American volunteers trained by Col. Claire Chennault in China, flew Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter planes to defend Burma against Japanese invaders, 1942.
