The English Countryside
The esteemed PBS “Masterpiece Classic” television series Downton Abbey concludes its second season this Sunday. Nearly a century after the story takes place, Chris Steele-Perkins examined the rural countryside of Durham, England. Unsurprisingly, some of the genteel and class-divided world of Downton still remains. The work was published as the book Northern Exposures. Here is a sample.
