SAIGON, Vietnam—Mai, age 20, earns money in one of the many bars in Saigon keeping soldiers “company.” Mai claims she supports her mother and five younger brothers and sisters on her earnings. She hopes to move to another part of the country when the war is over to start a new life. She can earn as much as $180 a month, 1966.
As the US military fights to gain stability in Iraq, doctors, nurses, and medics are working on the front lines to keep the casualties down. Thomas Dworzak was embedded with the 44th, 50th and 115th Medical Companies in Iraq.
Requiem in Samba

encountered a beautiful but violent culture shaped by the constant
specter of death. During his time there, he also discovered a
different outlook on life captured in the sounds of samba.
Our Daily Bread was inspired by Erich Hartmann’s trip across the United States in 1954, when he first saw the vast Midwestern Grain Belt. As assignments took him around the world, Hartmann continued to document the human work involved in making “our daily bread,” from the clearing of land to the final product presented at the dinner table.
