Between 1959 and 1973, Marilyn Silverstone traveled to Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, Ladakh, and other Eastern countries. Ocean of Life portrays her experience of moving from Scarsdale, N.Y., to Nepal and becoming a Buddhist nun. The book is divided into sections, roughly according to Buddhist instruction.
